This autumn confetti melt and pour soap is packed with shredded red and brown clear soap set in creamy white shea butter, with a warm cinnamon scent. The red came out more of a warm orange-red, which makes it a perfect Thanksgiving or fall soap.

Materials & Tools
Soap Base
- About 10 oz of clear melt and pour soap base (5 oz per color) for the confetti
- About 14 oz of shea butter melt and pour soap base for the loaf
Color & Scent
- Red and brown mica from Stardust mica or your favorite brand
- Cinnamon fragrance oil. Cinnamon is strong, so go light.
Tools
- 6 cavity mold (each cavity holds about 3.2 oz)
- Salad shooter or grater
- Square soap mold
- Soap cutter and a scale
- Spray bottle of 91% isopropyl alcohol
- Thermometer
- Pour cups
Fragrance Amount
Use up to 5 ml of fragrance oil per 16 oz (1 lb) of soap base. With a strong scent like cinnamon, less is better. I used about 1 ml in each 5 oz confetti cup and none in the white base.
How to Make Autumn Confetti Soap
1. Color the Confetti Soap
Melt two 5 oz cups of clear base. Mix red mica with alcohol and stir it into one cup, and brown into the other. Add a little fragrance.

2. Pour and Set
Pour into a cavity mold, about one and a half cavities per color. Let them set.

3. Shred
Cut the bars in half and run them through a salad shooter. Clean it out every bar or so. Mix the colors in a bowl and chill them in the fridge for about 15 minutes so they don’t melt.

4. Pour the Base
Melt the shea butter. When it’s starting to skin (around 140°F), pour a little into the mold first. This keeps holes off the bottom.

5. Add the Confetti
Spray the confetti with alcohol and add it in handfuls, pouring more white soap as you go. Save a little soap for the top so it looks like a glaze.

6. Unmold and Cut
Let it set, then unmold and cut. Each bar weighs about 5 oz. If your mold has a small hole on one end, that marks the long side. Cut that way for four 1-inch bars.

Tips & What I Learned
- Chill the confetti. Cold shreds don’t melt in the warm base.
- Pour a thin bottom layer first. It avoids holes on the bottom.
- Air pockets on the sides look rustic. They’re fine.
- Go light on cinnamon. It’s a strong scent.
- Leave soap for a glaze. A final drizzle smooths the top.
Troubleshooting
The confetti melted. The base was too hot, or the shreds weren’t chilled.
Holes on the bottom. Pour a thin layer of base before adding confetti.
My red looks orange. Some reds lean warm. That works great for a fall soap.
