Hi everyone, this is Anna from Quala Soap. Today I'm going to be trying to do a soap with this pattern inside of it
0:09
This is a very shallow impression mold. You can get it on Amazon or Hobby Lobby
0:17
The issue is when you try to get soap out of it, I've never been able to do it
0:21
I've put it in the freezer, I've tried everything. thing but I did find a technique and it was actually using this little silicone
0:27
mat by accident that worked so what I'm going to do is I'm going to melt down
0:32
some glycerin crystal clear melt and pour and add a little bit of blue slushy
0:38
from Bramble Berry and just a touch of glitter to it and then that's where we'll
0:44
start so we're gonna go ahead and melt this down okay so we have it melted down
0:48
I'm gonna go ahead and add some alcohol and blue slushy into this a little pour pan here
0:56
There's my alcohol. I you kind of want the color to be a little bit darker than lighter for this technique work
1:18
okay we're mixing I just put a touch of glitter in as you saw and I'm going to
1:34
now add it to my clear melt and pour now you also need a rubber spatula and I'll
1:45
tell you why in a second. Go ahead and stir this up. Okay, so it's nice and
1:58
stirred up. You're gonna need this because you're gonna need it's kind of a
2:03
soft pliable. You're gonna be scooping here. You cannot use this, which is what I
2:10
tried before, and when you do this you take off much more color than you need
2:14
to and I still have a little bit of soap in here from my experiment so get rid of
2:19
that okay so what I'm gonna do you can add fragrance to this if you want and I
2:30
am just going to pour it in a little squirt with alcohol work them both with
2:38
alcohol and I've already measured in my tray here that this will reach probably
2:45
around two of these flowers so I'm only going to pour on two flowers here and
2:51
this one I'm going to pretty much pour on the whole thing I'll show you why in a second okay give us another stir and now we're going to pour
3:08
you don't worry you need to do this on a silicone mat that way you kind of recoup
3:13
your soap for later and I'm just gonna go like this I'm going to try to do it once and I'm going to do about two of these I'm going
3:25
to go a little bit over two and I'm going to do the same thing you just
3:36
don't want any access there at all okay we're just gonna let that sit for a
3:44
second and then we're gonna take some more crystal clear melt and pour and
3:50
we're gonna put a little bit of glitter in this and we're gonna pour it on top
3:54
we don't want this to be too hot though so we won't pour this until it's in its 130s on top of this so we don't want it to melt this soap so let's go warm this
4:02
up okay so we have it melted we want to make sure there's absolutely no clumps in there and I put
4:09
just a touch of the bio glitter in there and I'm gonna let it cool down for just a little bit I
4:15
think right now it's at 158 so it's a little too warm in the meantime what I can do is these take
4:25
there they dry fairly quickly I'm actually going to lift this up okay and
4:32
I'm going to put all of this back into our blue so we haven't wasted any
4:43
and I'm also going to there's a little bit of blue that it's kind of outside
4:50
the design here I'm just gonna take a little knife and try to shave it off a
4:54
little bit before we go to our next step Okay that about as clean as we going to get it same here as you can see there some blue
5:11
that's over here so we're gonna get rid of that too you don't want any where it doesn't need to be
5:29
okay so let me see what we're at here
5:52
150 so we're getting there we're not quite there yet I'm going to stir that a little bit
6:01
Now, what I found with this larger mold, the mold itself has a little bit deeper openings than this first mold that I showed you
6:12
So on this silicone mat, it has to be a baking mat
6:16
And I actually, I got this a while ago and I was just messing around on it and this mold accidentally flipped over on me
6:27
and I was like oh my gosh and so what I did was I decided that you want to make
6:33
sure your mat is got nothing on it here I've got all this blue soap here still
6:37
there's two ways of doing this you can now flip the mat over on a clean surface
6:44
here on this silicone make sure there's no glue underneath it and you're going
6:50
to push down and then you're going to start pulling up and you're going to push down here
7:05
as you're pulling up and it seems to grab it the ends are going to be a little bit tougher but once
7:19
it starts to grab it you can hold down here if you can see my hand I'm holding
7:26
down the blue as I'm pulling very slowly so you always want to pour a little bit
7:31
more than you want on your design and I'm pulling down so this is one way of
7:44
doing it. Okay, and then you need to pull it up very carefully, and it's very flexible. You
8:09
can see it's almost like a lace. Put it off to the side. Now the other way of
8:17
doing this, this does not work on this mold. It's much too it's more shallow
8:23
than this other one. We're going to stir this. Make sure that it's not too hot
8:32
Okay, 145 I think it's it's fairly okay. So I'm going to go ahead and start
8:38
squirting this with alcohol nice generous dose of alcohol and then we are
8:48
just going to pour it and clean off a little bit more of it this uses a
8:53
different method so what I'm going to do here is I'm just going to pour straight
8:59
on top going back and forth now every once in a while you may see like a
9:10
little piece of skin in there I see I don't know if you can see it on the camera but I see it and I'm going to just grab my skewer before this gets too
9:17
dry and pull that skin off okay so we're gonna let that dry for a little bit
9:23
we're gonna save this because we're actually gonna be using all of this in
9:26
our mold next so we'll be back once this dries and I'll show you how I get this
9:30
one off okay so now this one is fairly dry but you don't want to be soft
9:36
anywhere and basically what you're gonna do is you don't want to cut off any
9:40
excess of the clear melt and pour you're gonna you're gonna need it because you
9:45
need to kind of grab the ends here so I'm making sure that it's dry and now
9:50
I'm gonna flip it over also make sure that there's no bumps or anything here
9:55
and I going to start pushing down now I slowly going to raise it up I going to grab the clear melt and pour Actually I think the other side had more Let me see It too late now I going to grab by this side because I think this one
10:19
had more melt and pour on the side. So you want to grab the clear part, okay, and then you'll see
10:26
the blue and then you're going to keep pushing down on the blue very gently and sometimes you
10:35
have to rub here oh like here okay make sure it's really down and then you're going to start patting
10:42
it really close to as you're peeling it up and this this mat is awesome it won't let it slide
10:52
out and it doesn't tear and it's great because I've never been able to get this
10:57
to work there we go okay so let me hold this up and we're gonna hold it up very slowly
11:11
pull it up okay and there you go and it's very thin now that you have this out now
11:19
by all means cut off all the excess clear melt and pour that you don't need
11:36
in this side it's maybe a little hard to see because of the design on the mat but
11:44
so I'm just peeling this up putting it back into my clear because that's
11:49
basically all it is it's clear and now what we're going to do is the next step
11:55
so this one I'm going to create a wrap around effect meaning I still have blue
12:02
soap in here from before I'm going to not cut this down to size I am going to
12:10
just, oh, let me be clear here. There is the side of the design and then there's a smooth
12:16
side where it's the melt and pour on top. You want to do the actual design side down
12:23
the rough side down. That way it'll be a little bit darker. Okay, so I'm not going to cut this
12:30
down. What I'm going to do is I'm going to melt a little bit more of this down and pour a little
12:37
bit in here. Okay so this clear melt and pour can have nothing in it except for glitter, a little
12:43
bit of glitter. No fragrance, nothing else, no colorant, nothing. So it's at 145. I think that's
12:50
okay to pour so I'm going to make sure we're all clean and ready to go here. I'm going to go ahead
12:55
and pour a little bit down just to cover the bottom. That's it
12:59
because it's going to cool down a lot as soon as it gets there we're still going to squirt in some
13:08
alcohol and now I'm going to take this and carefully place it down here it's in the center
13:17
if possible and hold it. It's hard to see the center but sooner or later it will
13:29
hold. You can let go. You're going to squirt a little bit more alcohol in there and
13:43
then you can pour some more melt and pour in there just a little bit okay so
13:53
we're gonna let that go ahead and sit now this so I'm sorry this embed over
13:58
here is a bit of a different story so I should move this over here a little bit
14:05
more. This one here we don't have anything around it already so what I'm
14:13
going to do is I'm actually going to cut it out to the actual size of the mold. And to do that I'm going to grab a soap that we've already made and I'm going to
14:20
cut it down that way. Okay so here's a just a basic white soap. I think we're
14:25
going to do is eventually put epoxy in here so I have one that's not soap and
14:29
I'm actually just gonna put it right there and I take the knife and I'm just
14:36
gonna cut it to size we'll save that part for later
14:52
okay and so I have it cut down to size for the mold the other issue is this is
15:03
a little bit too wide for it so I'm actually going to cut that part down
15:09
again I had forgotten to do that so I going to position it the way I had it take my knife cut that piece off cut that piece off and then we go ahead put that back in there for
15:32
later and we'll go ahead and start placing it in the mold so our clear Milton pour is only at 131
15:39
So it's a pretty good. This doesn't have anything around it. So I'm just going to go ahead and put it in the mold as is
15:46
And I'm going to squirt it with some alcohol. I Don't want it to rise up. That's the problem we may have here. So I'm actually going to have a skewer ready
15:57
As I'm pouring to hold it down a little bit We just want it to stay down there
16:09
and fill up all the little holes in that lace and it's staying put we're going to
16:22
fill it up just a little bit more have some skin that's trying to get down there and I don't want it to go down there okay and we will let that dry so once
16:35
Once that is set, what we're going to do is we're going to take some shea butter goat's milk
16:42
This we can go ahead and put a fragrance in and we can go ahead and we're going to be
16:48
pouring it on top. Okay, so we've melted down our shea butter and we are going to go ahead and this is at 136
16:58
So the first thing we're going to do is I'm going to take my skewer, which I still have glycerin on
17:05
I'm going to put that in the garbage. And I'm just going to do little hashtags right here
17:18
And then very carefully I'm going to squirt it with alcohol. We'll measure it one more time, make sure
17:28
So 132 so it should be good. I'm going to pour it very slowly. I understand that we have a little
17:39
bit hanging out here so what I do is I put a little bit clear melt and pour and I just touched it here to keep these little wings up. We'll cut that down after we're done making this
17:48
soap. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to very carefully..
18:03
Okay, fill that up. Squirt it with just a little bit more alcohol and make sure
18:11
this one's ready to go. You don't want it to pop through that's why I'm doing it a
18:20
little bit slower here. Okay so now we're just gonna wait and we will unmold. Hi
18:34
everyone okay we're back so we're gonna be doing the unmolding of the soaps
18:40
that came out very nice that's actually really nice I like that this one let's see I left the
19:02
wings on because I want it to have like a wrap around effect so let's see how it
19:08
looks. We'll put that there. Let's see. That turned out really nice and it's a
19:17
wrap around. So what we're going to do is we're going to gently cut off that
19:26
And that. And then what we'll do is we're going to clean that up with maybe a vegetable peel or something
19:38
That looks really nice. And I also did some in a red color
19:44
So as you can see, it's a lot better if you do it the darker the color, the more it will
19:50
show up. Okay. So I hope you like the soaps. This is Anna from Koala Soap, and I hope that little trick helped you
19:59
I would love to see what you guys come up with. I think this opens up a whole bunch of doors with these little impression mats that were
20:06
too thin for us to put soap in. So you guys have a really great weekend
